2023 Ducati Panigale V4 S Sports Motorcycle – Features and Specs

New double-profile-design wings

The 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 S Sports Motorcycle has a redesigned fairing with more efficient double-profile wings that are more compact and thin: With this upgrade, the same vertical load of up to 81.5 lb at 186 mph is guaranteed better than 2022 Ducati Panigale V4 S.

Cooling system

To enhance the cooling system and, as a result, the engine’s performance, particularly on racecourse days, the bottom portion of the fairing has newly designed extraction sockets.

The 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale MotoGP-derived engine, which has undergone several upgrades, serves as the bike’s brain. With the addition of specific specialized technological components that enable improved performance on the track and an immediate throttle response, the Desmosedici Stradale completes yet another development for 2023.

At 12,500 rpm, the Desmosedici Stradale engine produces 210 horsepower. The engine also delivers the torque of 90.6 lb-ft at 11,000 rpm, which is 80% of the engine’s maximum torque at 6,000 rpm.

The first, second, and sixth gears’ ratios may be lengthened thanks to the new gearbox, SBK Gear. Therefore, this new SBK gear ratio is more “racing-oriented” and more suited for usage on the track.

New Power Modes Strategy

The 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 S Sports Motorcycle now includes a new Power Modes logic that offers four engine configurations: Full, High, Medium, and Low. While the High and Medium configurations use a novel tactic, the Full and Low arrangements are freshly created.

Energy Mode Complete Power Mode Full is the most aggressive setting ever used by a 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 S Sports Motorcycle. It allows the engine to operate efficiently with torque curves devoid of electronic filters except for the first gear.

Except for first gear, Power Mode Full is the sportiest setting ever used by a 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 S Sports Motorcycle. It enables the engine to express its full potential with torque curves devoid of electronic filters. For the High and Medium Power Modes, the new Ride-by-Wire map management system has been created; it is now specific to each of the six gears, ensuring the rider may always have the best thrust while opening the throttle. The Power Mode Low, on the other hand, limits the bike’s maximum power to 150 Hp and provides a very reasonable throttle response. It was designed to make road riding even more fun.

Power mode High & Medium

For the High and Medium Power Modes, the new Ride-by-Wire map management system has been created; it is now specific to each of the six gears, ensuring the rider may always have the best thrust while opening the throttle.

Power Mode Low

With a maximum power restriction of 150 horsepower and a mainly controlled throttle response, the Power Mode Low was designed to make road riding even more pleasurable.

V4 90° layout

The engine’s 210 horsepower at 12,500 rpm and 90.6 lb-ft. Of torque at 11,000 rpm provide for fantastic road riding.

Desmo: blending tradition and the future

The Desmodromic system, a feature that makes Ducati the quickest prototype of the premier racing class in motorcycle racing, is the foundation of the new engine. The “Desmo” reaches its most excellent technological value with its high-rotation engine, achieving intricacy, compactness, and lightness never previously seen on a Ducati.

Counter-rotating crankshaft

The crankshaft spins in the same direction as the wheels on street motorcycles. On the other hand, the counter-rotating crankshaft that rotates the opposite way is often utilized in MotoGP. The Desmosedici Stradale has used this technological approach to increase the bike’s agility and direction-changing precision by offsetting some of the gyroscopic effect created by the wheels. The wheelie phenomenon is lessened by the counter-rotating crankshaft’s torque from inertia, which tends to lesser the front end during acceleration and the rear end while braking.

“Twin Pulse” firing order

This specific shaft design permits a unique “Twin Pulse” ignition sequence when combined with the V engine configuration. The two brand new left-hand cylinders fire closely together, as do the two right-hand ones, which gives them their characteristic appearance. The ignition points are thus at 0°, 90°, 290°, and 380° on the timing chart. The V4 sounds eerily similar to the MotoGP Desmosedici when fired in this precise sequence.

Numerous significant modifications are included in the redefining of the Ducati Panigale V4 and 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 S Sports Motorcycle. Specific technical decisions are made to enhance on-track performance and are the product of knowledge gained in MotoGP and SBK. The end goal is quite clear: faster speeds that are more consistent and with less effort attained.

The renowned aluminum Front Frame is directly attached to the Desmosedici Stradale, a stressed component of the chassis. The brand new lightweight magnesium front frame and the seat post are made of shell-cast aluminum, attached to the front frame at the top and the head of the rear bank at the bottom, respectively, to complete the chassis.

Öhlins pressurized fork

A hlins NPX 25/30 pressurized fork, which is compatible with the hlins Smart EC 2.0 event-based electronic control system, is used on the Panigale V4 S model. The most advanced road sports bike at the moment is this latter one. It employs a pressurized system with a 25 mm piston to control the compression in the left leg and a 30mm piston to prevent the extension in the right leg and has a 5 mm longer stroke than conventional forks (125 mm).

This SBK-derived architecture reduces the possibility of oil cavitation with heavy usage. The outcome? Better braking assistance while also having excellent road bump absorption. This results in an improved riding experience, faster speed, and easier pushing to the limit.

New chassis set-up for vigorous cornering

The swing arm pivot is 4 mm higher on the new Panigale V4 than it was on the bike from 2021. With this unique technological decision, the anti-squat effect is increased, stabilizing the bike during acceleration and assisting the rider through all those throttle-open moments, such as direction changes and acceleration out of bends. The pivot’s new location, which is fixed and unadjustable, gives the rider more options for modifying the suspension.

Wheels and Tires

The Pirelli DIABLO TM Supercorsa SP tires are mounted on 3-spoke forged aluminum alloy wheels for the Panigale V4 S in sizes 120/70 ZR17 up front and 200/60 ZR17 up back.

Brembo Stylema

Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers, including four 30 mm diameter pistons and 330 mm diameter discs, are used on the Panigale V4 ’22’s front for excellent stopping power. A solo 245 mm disc, including a 2-piston caliper, is at the back.

In-depth development has strongly emphasized ergonomics to enhance the bike’s handling during track sessions and enable the rider to make the most of the 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 S Sports Motorcycle’s performance, both on a solo lap and under extensive usage on the track. The seat and the tank have both undergone significant design revisions.

In comparison to the 2021 version, the fuel tank’s redesigned form provides it with an additional liter of capacity and a different fit region, enabling riders of all sizes to anchor better during braking and go further and quicker. The rider is also more comfortably positioned in the most aerodynamic position due to the redesigned tank form, improving rider integration with the bike. Additionally, the arms’ contact area during the hanging-off phase has been enhanced.

The seat now has a flatter contour and a better covering, which allows for more straightforward body mobility and lessens the inclination for the rider to slide forward while braking.

The 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 S Sports Motorcycle is equipped with a cutting-edge electronics package built on a 6-axis inertial platform that can instantaneously detect the roll, yaw, and pitch angles of the motorcycle.

All riding phases are managed by controls that are part of the electronic package and whose operational settings are by default linked to the four accessible riding modes (Race A, Race B, Sport, and Street).

An expansive five ′′ full-TFT color display with excellent quality controls every aspect of the Panigale V4.
