This engine of 1200 R can deliver 10% more power and 5.5% more torque than 2018 Ducati Monster 1200S. This motorcycle features the 160 hp and 13.4 kgm torque than turn the Monster 1200 R into the naked supersport bike. It is all possible due to the full-bodied and smooth delivery at low and medium RPM.
The “R” spirit of the bike is immediately recognized by its entirely redesigned, lightweight and compact tailpiece, seat, and high-mounted plate holder. The bike set-up and technical features are in-line with the power rating of the ‘R’ twin-cylinder engine. This bike can deliver more stances than Monster S, for more extreme lean angles and make most of its Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires. On the rear section, the bike has 200/55 x ZR17 size tires.
This Monster 1200 R is equipped with the latest suspension and Ohlins steering damper with separate rider and passenger footpegs that enhances the racing-inspired riding experience. Monster 1200R 2018 Ducati Powerful Naked Bike – Features
The Ducati Design Center worked on the Monster 1200R to make the sleek and compact bike with the real sporting character. The overall appearance of the Monster 1200R 2018 Ducati Powerful Naked Bike demands much of the attention, especially on its stylish fuel tank. The anodized aluminum attachment clip makes the presentation even more attractive and charming. The short, sleek, and compact tail, which is supported by the steel Trellis subframe, not only looks impressive, but it adds in the overall styling of the bike. The sub-frame is supported by the passenger foot-pegs, which is now separated from the rider’s pegs.
Another impressive feature is the new Monster headlight, which is fully redesigned for the bike, and they have dual parabolas. The adoption of these new headlights results in the development of entirely new instrument panel support, which is now attached with the handlebar risers. The indicators have been repositioned that provides a visually lighter look to the front end of the bike. Moreover, the bike features all-new switchgear.
The Ducati Design Center has reduced and simplified the number of plastic parts. The expansion tank cover is more compact, while the radiator cap is minimalist, while the exhaust manifold guard has a more professional look. These changes provide greater prominence to the frame in the side-on view.
The Ducati 1200R features the liquid-cooled 1198 cm3 twin and 4-cylinder-per-cylinder Testastretta 11-degree DS. The Eur-4 compliant engine is also a structural element of the chassis set-up having the attachment points on the Trellis frame. The engine delivers the vast 150 hp at 9,250 rpm, thanks to the new throttle bodies and the new dedicated exhaust, Ducati has produced an impressive torque curve than means even more riding enjoyment delivering the maximum torque of 126.2 Nm at 7,750 rpm.
The engine breath-in via Mikuni Ride-by-Wire oval throttle bodies, and it features the twin-spark set-up. The double flame front delivers the complete combustion within an ultra-short interval working in collaboration with the secondary air system that optimizes performance by reducing combustion cycle dispersion but without affecting emissions.
The Monster clutch uses an oil bath slipper type with an ultra-low effort lever control. The progressive self-servo system automatically increases an all-new spring load. It results in a much better fingertip feel guaranteeing an excellent comfort when frequent gear changes are inevitable or on long rides. When the rear wheel puts back-torque, the same mechanism minimizes the pressure on the clutch discs, activating the slipper function and so preventing back end de-stabilization during aggressive downshifting.
The exhaust ducts use the cross-section of 50-52 mm, which are the part of the 2-1-2 system, and they are uniquely designed with an identical length for both cylinders to maximize power and delivery efficiency. This system contains the lambda probe for each of its bottles to make fueling both autonomous and optimal. This engine has long maintenance intervals, and the valve timing adjustment is now needed just once every 30,000 km.
The engine of Ducati 1200R acts as a load-bearing element, and an attractive Trellis frame is being attached to the cylinder heads. The racing-derived concept first applied to the factory bike with the Panigale project. This specific configuration gives the highly compact and light frame, while the large cross-section tubing provides the high torsional rigidity, which perfectly brings a dynamic performance. The Monster 1200R also boasts the new beefier swingarm and compact 1,485 mm wheelbase.
The rear seat-carrying sub-frame is attached directly to the engine, which has been redesigned to provide the compact structure supporting the new passenger footpeg struts. These pegs are now separated from the rider’s peg to ensure greater freedom of movement in sporty-style riding. The footpegs are made up of die-cast aluminum, and they are attached with aluminum pegs.
The Ducati Monster 1200R contains the fully adjustable 43 mm Kayaba forks with an upfront flexible 43 mm Kayaba forks. At the same time, the Sachs shock absorber at the rear section has spring pre-load and rebound damping adjustment. The Monster 1200R contains the Sachs shock absorber offering the best performance of all times.

However, the latest Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3 dual-compound tires with 120/70 at the front and 190/55 at the rear, giving the best mileage during the constant grip even in corners. The quality tires having Pirelli Enhanced Patch Technology (EPT) have been used that maximizes the contact patch area while the lean angle and Functional Groove Design (FGD) to optimize performance in the wet conditions.
The braking system provides the best performing, and it consists up of twin Brembo M4.32 monobloc 4-piston calipers with 320 mm of discs at the front section. The front brake radial pumps with separate reservoirs having the single 245 mm drive at the rear, and it is gripped by the Brembo calipers that have been attached with the brake pads.
