The new 2024 Kawasaki KX250 Dirt Motorcycle is designed for experienced motocross riders who demand high performance, precise handling, and adjustable ergonomics. It continues Kawasaki’s legacy as one of the most successful brands in AMA motocross and supercross racing, delivering a machine built to compete.
The 2024 Kawasaki KX250 Dirt Motorcycle is powered by a 249 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke engine tuned to deliver strong performance across the rev range. It is designed to deliver quick lap times and strong off-the-line acceleration. The engine features a finger-follower valve train developed by Kawasaki’s World Superbike engineers, allowing a higher rev limit and more aggressive cam profiles for improved high-rpm performance. A 14.1:1 compression-ratio piston with a dry-film lubricant coating reduces friction and improves durability. Dual fuel injectors enhance performance, especially at higher RPM.
The motorcycle features a coned disc-spring hydraulic clutch that delivers consistent feel under heavy use and reduces variation in lever operation.
The chassis features a lightweight aluminium perimeter frame designed for nimble handling and slim ergonomics. It uses a combination of forged, extruded, and cast components to balance rigidity and flexibility. The front suspension features 48 mm KYB inverted forks with large damping pistons for smooth operation and strong damping. A Kashima coating reduces friction and wear. The rear suspension uses a KYB shock with adjustable compression settings to match the front fork performance.

The braking system includes a 270 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, delivering strong and controllable stopping power. The motorcycle is fitted with Dunlop MX33 tyres in 80/100-21 front and 110/90-19 rear sizes, offering excellent traction and stability.
2024 Kawasaki KX250 Dirt Motorcycle – Features and Specs
4-Stroke Engine
The piston uses a bridged-box design similar to Kawasaki’s factory race machines, making it lighter and stronger. A thick cylinder wall improves rigidity and reduces mechanical losses. The connecting rod design reduces lateral force on the piston, improving efficiency and performance. Lightweight crank components enhance engine response, while low-friction bearings reduce power loss.
The cylinder is positioned slightly forward to reduce friction and improve power delivery. The intake system is designed for efficient airflow, improving cylinder filling and overall performance. Surface treatments on internal components reduce wear and friction, enhancing durability. The aluminium cylinder, with special plating, improves heat transfer and retains lubrication.

The lubrication system improves engine response by reducing oil resistance, while dual oil pumps ensure proper lubrication under demanding conditions. Radiator positioning helps maintain a slim profile while improving cooling efficiency.
Race-tuned 4-Valve Cylinder Head (KP)
The finger-follower valve train reduces weight and friction while allowing aggressive cam profiles for high performance. Special coatings on internal components improve durability and reduce wear. The intake system improves airflow and enhances performance across the rev range. The valve seat material is optimised to protect the titanium valves. An automatic compression release system assists with easy starting like in 2023 Kawasaki KX250.
Kawasaki DFI System with Dual Injectors
The fuel injection system uses a large throttle body to ensure sufficient airflow and strong top-end performance. Two injectors optimise fuel delivery: one provides smooth response, and the other boosts power at higher RPM. The system adjusts automatically based on riding conditions, ensuring consistent performance.
Electric Start
The 2024 Kawasaki KX250 Dirt Motorcycle features an electric start system powered by a lightweight lithium-ion battery. It enables quick, convenient starting, supported by a compression release system that reduces starting effort.
Coned Disc-Spring Hydraulic Clutch
The hydraulic clutch system provides a direct feel and consistent operation during extended use. Its design reduces lever effort and improves control during engagement.

Lightweight Aluminium Perimeter Frame (KP)
The aluminium frame is designed for lightweight construction, strong handling, and improved traction. It uses the engine as a structural component to enhance rigidity. The frame design ensures stability while maintaining agility for competitive riding.

Kayaba Coil-Spring Fork
The front suspension is designed to provide smooth performance and effective bump absorption. Large damping pistons allow strong damping with lower internal pressure, improving comfort and control. The Kashima coating enhances durability and reduces friction for smoother operation.
New Uni-Trak Rear Suspension
The rear suspension is designed to improve traction and performance across different track conditions. It offers adjustable damping settings and increased travel, letting riders customise performance. The system keeps the seat low while improving suspension efficiency.
Big Brakes
The braking system includes a large front disc and a rear disc for strong stopping power and improved control. It shares components with higher-performance models to enhance braking feel and consistency.

Slim, Adjustable Ergonomics
The 2024 Kawasaki KX250 Dirt Motorcycle features a slim body design that allows easy rider movement and improved control. The fuel tank and seat provide a flat surface for a better riding position. Adjustable footpeg positions let riders customise ergonomics. The bodywork is shaped to support rider grip and movement while maintaining a clean and durable finish.
