2024 Kawasaki KX250 50th Anniversary Edition Dirt Bike – Features and Specs
4-Stroke Engine
The piston of new 2024 Kawasaki KX250 50th Anniversary Edition Dirt Bike uses the same bridged-box bottom design used in our factory racers. A short skirt, reinforced protruding ribs, and a bridged-box bottom with fully flush internal brackets result in a lighter, stronger piston. The thick cylinder wall helps maintain cylinder rigidity to avoid deformation and reduce mechanical loss.
The brand-new connecting rod design reduces overall side force on the piston, reducing mechanical loss on the cylinder walls and improving performance. The new light crankshaft comes standard for fast rotational speeds. Flat bearings with low friction at the large end of the connecting rod reduce mechanical loss and help increase performance.
The cylinder offset is positioned 3mm forward to reduce friction and enable efficient power generation. An upright engine orientation also helps straighten the intake path. The downdraft intake routing fills the cylinder more efficiently and improves power output. The plateau honing of the cylinder bore ensures a smooth surface to reduce mechanical loss. The new Molybdenum coating on the outer surface of the piston helps reduce mechanical loss and resists wear. Striations help store oil to minimise shuffle.

An all-new aluminium cylinder with chrome composite coatings ensures rapid heat transfer, excellent deterioration resistance, and optimal lubrication retention to increase efficiency and durability. The semi-dry sump lubrication system enables faster engine operation. The main part of the oil is stored in the transmission to hold excess oil from the crankshaft and prevent power-robbing stirring loss. With a single flat chamber at the bottom of the cylinder to collect oil, which a scavenge pump moves to the transmission, the crank sits as low as possible to reduce the centre of gravity.
Race-tuned 4-Valve Cylinder Head
The new finger-follower valve train, developed by Kawasaki multi-time World Superbike Championship-winning engineers, provides aggressive cam profiles and high-speed limiting for excellent high-speed performance. The finger-follower valve train reduces valve train mass (intake is 3.5 per cent lighter, exhaust is 4.3 per cent lighter) compared with tappet-style actuation, and reduced friction from the Cam DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating helps the followers resist wear.

An all-new aggressive camshaft lobe features a new chromium nitride coating designed for durability. Straight inlet ports increase intake efficiency to boost performance throughout the power band. Titanium valves, paired with a special valve seat, help prevent wear. The Automatic Compression Release (KACR) is located on the exhaust camshaft and makes starting easier like in 2023 Kawasaki KX250.
Kawasaki DFI® System with Dual Injectors
The large 44mm throttle diameter allows excess air, contributing to top-end performance. Upstream injection positions and angles, along with airbox design, contribute to top-end performance. At the same time, the downstream injector is mounted at the bottom of the intake duct, enabling rapid gas response. The tapered intake funnel assists with top-end performance. The intake duct angle is optimised for a straight air intake approach, improving cylinder-filling efficiency and contributing to performance.
A Kawasaki innovation introduced in 2012, dual fine-atomization fuel injectors help deliver instant throttle response and strong power across the entire speed range. One injector sits below the throttle valve, while the second, upstream injector sits near the airbox. The upstream injector provides a power boost, while the downstream injector delivers a smooth, instant response. As RPM and throttle increase, primary operation shifts from the new downstream injector to the upstream injector. In the lower (first and second) gears, the switch is gradual, and in the higher gears, it is instantaneous.
The new 44mm throttle used in 2024 Kawasaki KX250 50th Anniversary Edition Dirt Bike is compact to shave weight. It offers an easy start, crisp throttle response, and stable fuel delivery over jumps and bumps, with automatic compensation for changing atmospheric conditions. The unitised plastic fuel filter cover includes a fuel pump to ensure a stable fuel supply during hard riding.
Electric Start
The push-start button makes it extremely easy to start the engine quickly. A lightweight, compact lithium-ion battery powers it, minimising weight gain. The automatic centrifugal compression release system lifts the exhaust valve from the exhaust cam to ease startup. The system’s simple design is lightweight and highly reliable.
NOTE: Only use a lithium-ion-specific charger to avoid fatal battery damage.
Coned Disc-spring Hydraulic Clutch
The hydraulic clutch from Kawasaki provides a more direct feel and less leverage. Less play as the clutch warms during hard use leads to a more consistent feel. The clutch of 2024 Kawasaki KX250 50th Anniversary Edition Dirt Bike uses a solo coned disc spring rather than five coiled springs for lighter clutch actuation when pulling the lever, plus a broad coupling engagement area that helps the rider monitor the clutch. Friction plates also have offset segments to help reduce disc drag when the clutch is turned off.

Easy DFI Tuning
Riders of new 2024 Kawasaki KX250 50th Anniversary Edition Dirt Bike can change DFI settings by replacing a coupler on the right side of the steering system. Riders can choose between various Standard, Hard, or Soft terrain settings that suit riding conditions. For more advanced riders who want to use the optional Kawasaki KX FI Calibration Kit (handheld), you get additional adjustment options.
Easy-to-Use KX FI Calibration Kit (Optional)
The KX FI calibration accessory kit includes a handheld Controller that lets you easily change engine characteristics trackside by connecting to your ECU motor control unit. The kit’s user interface is extremely easy to understand and use. The Controller includes seven different map settings to adjust the ECU for various track conditions. You can create and store additional maps on the handheld or PC controller, with data transmitted between the Controller and PC via the SD card. The Controller can show the status of the current engine when it is connected to the ECU. It works with all KX models with DFI.
Launch Control Mode
Like the Monster Energy® Kawasaki Factory Racers, riders can turn on a separate engine card to get holeshot by pressing a button. The new Launch Control Mode card retards ignition timing, allowing the tyre to grip in low-traction situations, helping riders maximise traction and improve the likelihood of a good start.
Launch Control Mode features the greatest effect within the first seconds after releasing the clutch from the start – the most important time before any rivals can make it into the first corner for better positioning. Activate it by pressing and holding the launch control button on the left handlebar in neutral, first, or second gear for two seconds or longer. When activated, the new indicator lamp next to the button flashes quickly to show the system is enabled.
Lightweight Aluminium Perimeter Frame
The frame design and construction contribute to the 2024 Kawasaki KX250 50th Anniversary Edition Dirt Bike’s lightweight, light handling, slim ergonomics, and optimal rear-wheel traction. While the KX450 frame is used for many parts, cast parts such as the shock tower and engine hangers are specially developed to meet the KX250’s needs. The engine is a key component and helps balance frame rigidity. The leading-head area provides optimal rigidity, and the basic rail cross-sections, wide chassis, and swingarm brackets help achieve balanced rigidity.
The swingarm of 2024 Kawasaki KX250 50th Anniversary Edition Dirt Bike delivers frame-appropriate rigidity and contributes to rear-wheel traction. The chassis Balance and settings suit experienced racers. The frame is slim in its main sections for easy movement. For an excellent front feel, the down tube combines a forged front with a cast aluminium rear section.

Made from a blend of forged, extruded, and cast parts, the aluminium frame is designed for quick handling and stability, balancing torsional rigidity with longitudinal stiffness. The primary objective is to achieve maximum traction under acceleration. Special chassis dimensions and design (reinforced ribs, swingarm pivot, exit shaft, joint mount, and rear axle) are placed to prevent chassis squat and improve traction.
Kayaba Coil-Spring Fork
Fork settings match the frame rigidity, absorb impacts, and help maximise traction. The high-performance 48mm reverse coil spring delivers smooth impact absorption throughout the ring the fork stroke. Large-diameter internal tubes allow major 25mm damping pistons, enabling firm damping force with lower internal pressure. This allows firmer damping and more riding comfort.
New Uni-Trak® Rear Suspension
The brand-new Kayaba shock fills the KYB fork. Shock settings match up to help balance traction and frame rigidity. An all-new Uni-Trak® rear suspension hanger under the swingarm adds rear suspension travel while keeping seat height low. The extra ride provides improved suspension over a variety of track conditions.
Big Brakes
The new 270mm Braking Brand petal front brake disc provides superb brake performance. The front master cylinder on the initial KX450 provides superb control, based on feedback on overall brake performance. The KX450 offers linear force and improved control. Front brake pads are also shared. The rear disc is 240mm in diameter to optimise performance and improve controllability.
Slim, Adjustable Ergonomics
The new Oblong design radiator shroud provides a smooth, non-interrupted surface between riders’ legs to facilitate rider movement. The KX graphics use in-mould processes to shut off the graphics in the shroud plastic, creating more life and ultra-smooth outer surfaces.
The upper part of the fuel tank is low so the seat stays flat for freedom of movement and slides forward on the motorcycle. The new footpeg brackets can be set in two positions, enabling the driver to adjust footpeg height by 5mm. The bodywork features long, smooth surfaces and a flat tank seat line to support driver movement and navigation.
