Drivetrain / Engine
The 1,084cc torquey liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine powering the Rebel 1100 was developed for the successful Africa Twin Adventure platform and used to achieve dynamic performance in a cruiser application. Thrilling rides and stress-free, quiet journeys are both made possible by the engine’s strong torque and output, designed for comfortable handling. The DCT dramatically improves both the riding experiences.
Thanks to the parallel-twin design, heavy components can be placed at the engine’s rear, improving mass centralization and a low center of gravity. The Unicam® single overhead camshaft valvetrain design adds to the compact engine configuration. This concept, also used on Honda’s high-performance CRF450R motocrosser, lowers the engine’s cylinder head and shortens the mill. A dry sump lubrication system also enables a thin oil pan by locating the oil tank inside the crankcase.

Transmission with Two Clutches
The Rebel 1100 is offered a six-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission, unique in the Honda Powersports field, bringing the latest gearbox technology to the cruiser market. The DCT is a high-speed transmission that contributes to a stable, safe, comfortable and enjoyable ride. It has the performance and durability of a traditional gearbox but includes an automatic clutch and gear shifting system, allowing the rider to focus on other tasks. Two brand new coaxial main shafts and two automatic clutches — one for odd-numbered gears (1/3/5) and one for even-numbered bags (2/4/6 — feature the latest Honda DCT seen on the Rebel 1100. The profile of the steel frame is straight and organically curved. The machine’s streamlined design is given a big impression by its 35mm main tube and looping lines at the rear. Subtle, low-contrast, two-tone colors accentuate the low, tall, scalloped, flangeless fuel tank. 3.6 gallons of fuel capacity, including 1.1 gallons in reserve, is plenty for touring.
Long rides will be as comfortable as possible thanks to the progressive foam thickness and smooth texture of the narrow, saddle-style seat. The dish form keeps the rider comfortably in place, even during hard acceleration, and the short front end makes it easy to plant both feet on the ground at a stop. The seat can be easily removed to reveal a 3-liter storage compartment and 3-amp USB-C connectors, useful for storing and charging a smartphone or other electronic devices.
Both the new front and rear fenders are made from 1mm drawn steel and are attached to the vehicle using attractive brackets made of die-cast aluminum. The rear fender is connected to the optional passenger seat support.
The raw, relaxed nature of the bike is enhanced by the blacked-out engine, frame, suspension and other components. Even an all-new D.I.D drive chain is highlighted with black plating.
Structure and Suspension
With a wheelbase of 59.8 inches and a fork angle of 30 degrees, the Rebel 1100 achieves a cruiser look that belies its sporting prowess. It is made possible with the help of the fact that the caster angle is 28 degrees and the trail length is 4.3 inches, resulting in neutral handling and straight-line stability. The 27.5-inch seat height, the center of foot controls and pegs, neutral handlebar position and bend, 35-degree bank angle (much higher than most cruisers—like a naked bike), 4.7-in. Ground clearance for the DCT version, and 509-pound curb weight, all contribute to a spirited ride. The tubular swingarm diameter is 50.8 mm.
High-performance suspension components also contribute to sportiness. The traditional 43mm telescopic fork features stanchions coated in dark navy titanium oxide in keeping with the bike’s blacked-out design. The two-part sliders are made from root and die-cast aluminum. The car’s dynamic performance is aided by cartridge-type dampers and 5.5 inches of wheel travel.
Dual Showa shocks with 12.5mm shafts and pressurized piggyback reservoirs make up the rear suspension, designed for solid looks, good road-holding performance, and consistent damping force. The rear wheels can move 3.7 inches.
Preload can be changed at either end to customize the ride for load and passengers. Given its extensive adjustment range, the rear preload can be appropriately configured to accommodate a variety of rider weights and preferences.
High-quality brake components, similar to those found on sports bikes, slow and stop the Rebel 1100, resulting in excellent vehicle control in various riding conditions.
