2023 Yamaha YZ250X Dirt Bike – Features and Specs

Cross Country- Tuned YZ250 Power

The YZ250X is built on a modified version of Yamaha’s renowned YZ250 249cc liquid-cooled reed-valve-inducted two-stroke engine, with a model-specific CDI unit and improved Yamaha Power Valve System (YPVSTM) timing aimed to produce a broad, manageable power character well-suited to off-road competition.

Cross Country- Specific Features

The standard side stand and fuel tank petcock with reserve position, together with the cross-country-optimized suspension setup and brand-new Dunlop Geomax AT81 tires, 18-inch rear wheel, wide ratio gearbox, thin expansion chamber, sealed O-ring chain, and an all-new 18-inch rear wheel, are all great features for XC racing.

Improved Rider Ergonomics

New, smoothly integrated body panels, a narrower fuel tank design, a slimmer shroud width, and a flatter seat increase rider confidence in demanding cross-country conditions by allowing the rider to shift body weight forward and backward for better control quickly.

Key Features

To achieve the ideal compromise between stiffness and flex, the ultralight YZ250-spec frame is constructed from a blend of aluminum castings, forgings, and extrusions. Both the Speed-Sensitive System KYB spring-type front fork and the high-performance KYB® long-travel rear shock have been tested and calibrated to meet the demands of cross-country racers. The ideal GNCC® racer has a suspension tuned for cross-country riding, YPVSTM settings optimized for this purpose, new lightweight Excel® wheels shod with Dunlop® Geomax MX33 tires, a sealed O-ring chain, a standard side stand, and a fuel tank petcock with a reserve position.

Improved stopping power and feel come from a modernized high-performance brake system with bigger front pistons, a stiffer caliper, and a new 270mm front rotor, including a 30 percent increase in the pad contact area. The rear rotor was changed to decrease unsprung weight without sacrificing performance, keeping the same braking power while reducing the outer diameter from 245mm to 240mm. New smoothly integrated body panels, a narrower fuel tank design, a slimmer shroud width, and a flatter seat increase rider confidence in demanding cross-country conditions by allowing the rider to shift body weight forward and backward for better control quickly.

Radical Redesign for YZ Premium Yamaha graphics is now incorporated to give excellent durability and scratch resistance, complementing the leaner, more aggressive bodywork, redesigned front and rear fender design, and an all-new radiator shrouds that together accentuate the YZ family lineage.

Engine

Lightweight, small, and entertaining, the 249cc liquid-cooled reed-valve-inducted two-stroke engine has an unusually broad and robust powerband. Compared to its motocross sister, the YZ250X uses a model-specific digital CDI unit, a different compression ratio, and YPVSTM timing to provide a comprehensive, useable power delivery more suited to cross-country and enduro-style racing. The modernized intake layout allows for a cleaner, more powerful air intake. The YZ250X’s tiny yet effective exhaust expansion chamber is engineered to increase horizontal and vertical clearance over challenging terrain. The wide-ratio gearbox shifts smoothly and provides optimal gearing for navigating anything from dense forests to open fire lanes. The radiator’s massive size and the stealthy appearance of its black louvers make it ideal for extreme racing conditions.

Chassis/Suspension

Ultra-lightweight aluminum castings, forgings, and extrusions are used in the YZ250 frame specification to provide the ideal stiffness and flex. The lightweight square tubing used in constructing the aluminum rear subframe is removable. For ultra-precise handling, excellent bump absorption, and 11.8 inches of suspension travel, the fully adjustable KYB® 48mm forks include the Speed-Sensitive System, which employs piston speed to modulate the damping force. Additionally, dependability in cross-country circumstances has been enhanced by incorporating a scraper between the dust and oil seal.

Adjustable KYB® shocks with 12.4 inches of travel, low- and high-speed compression damping adjustments, and a complete lock oil rebound system for greater comfort. The sum of these parts is excellent rear-wheel control and a pleasurable ride. Chromed blue Excel® wheels are as tough as they are stylish. High-performance Dunlop® Geomax MX33 tires are mounted on them for enhanced cornering traction, stability, and feel.

Additional Features

Riders have more room to move about on the sporty “gripper” seat and trim fuel tank thanks to the tapered aluminum handlebar and adjustable mounts. The YZ250X was explicitly designed for off-road racing, as seen by its 18-inch rear wheel, wide-ratio gearing, standard side stand, sealed O-ring chain, reserve fuel petcock, and recently adopted scraper between the fork’s dust and oil seal.

New For 2023

New, smoothly integrated body panels, a narrower fuel tank design, a slimmer shroud width, and a flatter seat all increase rider confidence in demanding cross-country conditions by allowing the rider to shift body weight forward and backward for better control quickly. Bold new graphics bring attention to the YZ family heritage, while new front and rear fender designs and radiator shrouds complement the sleeker, more aggressive bodywork. Yamaha’s high-end graphics have been implanted to make them scratch-resistant and last longer.

Six inner pressure plates use a friction material with exceptional heat resistance qualities, making them more durable without sacrificing smooth performance.

2023 Yamaha YZ250X Dirt Bike

It is beneficial for long periods of cross-country racing. To better resist the arduous demands of cross-country and enduro-style racing, the YZ250X’s suspension performance has been further improved with new front fork internals and altered suspension settings—the modernized intake layout for a cleaner, more powerful air intake.
