This cross-country motorbike, based on the highly developed Kawasaki KX250, has been specially designed for cross-country riding, with an improved engine, suspension, brakes, wheel size, gearing, enduro tires, side stands, and Skid plates included. This tuning has increased the 2023 Kawasaki KX250X’s appeal to cross-country competitors.
The new 2023 Kawasaki KX250X, with a long history of off-road racing, retains the championship-winning performance and all the factory-style features of the 2023 Kawasaki KX250X, such as engine tuning for better performance throughout the powerband. Dates. Launch Control Mode
Launch Control mode is a moto cross-start mode designed to reduce wheelspin at the start, giving riders an advantage over other riders.
Two injectors, each with a specific function, operate at different rpm ranges to provide more high-rpm power and faster response.
Race-tuned 4-valve Cylinder Head (KP)
Kawasaki engineers, who have won multiple World Superbike Championships, have developed a finger-follower valve train that enables aggressive cam profiles and a high rev range for exceptionally high rpm performance. Compared to tappet-style actuation, finger-follower valve actuation reduces valve train mass (exhaust is 4.3 percent lighter, intake is 3.5 percent lighter) and reduces cam lobe friction. The DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) of the followers helps prevent wear. For durability, aggressive camshaft lobes are coated with chromium nitride.
Better performance in the powerband can be achieved by increasing intake efficiency through direct intake ports. A unique valve seat material helps protect titanium valves from wear and tear. Automatic Compression Release (KACR)(KP) on the exhaust camshaft makes starting easier.
Kawasaki DFI® System with Dual Injectors
The large 44mm throttle body diameter helps achieve top-end performance by allowing ample airflow. The position and angle of the upstream injector complement the airbox design, helping top-end performance, while the downstream injector is located below the intake duct for sharp throttle response. A tapered intake funnel enhances top-end performance. Performance is enhanced by an improved intake duct angle that directs intake air, improving cylinder filling efficiency.
Dual, fine-atomizing fuel injectors are a 2012 Kawasaki innovation contributing to mighty power across the rev range and quick throttle response. Two injectors are located near the airbox, one upstream and one downstream of the throttle valve. While the upstream injector boosts power, the downstream injector responds smoothly and immediately—primary operation shifts from the downstream injector to the upstream injector as rpm and throttle position increase. Shifts are gradual in first and second gears but instant in higher gears.
Compact in size to reduce weight, the 44mm throttle body offers smooth start-up, accurate throttle response, consistent fuel delivery over jumps and ups, and automatic ambient condition compensation. The petrol pump has a unitized plastic fuel filter cap to guarantee constant fuel delivery during vigorous riding better than 2022 Kawasaki KX250X.
The 2023 Kawasaki KX250X’s push button engine offers ease and speed of starting. It is powered by a lightweight, compact lithium-ion battery that helps keep weight to a minimum. To make starting more accessible, an exhaust valve is lifted by the exhaust cam’s automatic centrifugal compression release system. The system’s lightweight, reliable design makes it easy to operate.
Coned Disc-spring Hydraulic Clutch
Kawasaki’s hydraulic clutch has a lighter lever action and a more direct feel. When the clutch warms up during extensive use, reducing the play provides a more consistent feel.
The clutch has an extensive engagement range that aids rider control and light clutch activation when the lever is lifted thanks to using a single coil disc spring instead of five coil springs. Cond disc spring rates are reduced as the clutch lever is pulled so that the lever action is very light to help prevent rider fatigue during extended off-road events.
Additionally, the friction plates have offset components that encourage smooth disc separation and reduce drag when the clutch is disengaged.
Easy-to-Use KX FI Calibration Kit (Optional)
By inserting the handheld controller into the engine’s ECU, owners of the accessory KX FI Calibration Kit can change the engine parameters’ trackside.
The user interface of the kit is easy to use and understand. The controller has seven separate maps loaded for the ECU to modify according to track conditions. More maps can be created and saved on a PC or handheld controller using an SD card to transfer data between the two unique devices. Applies to all KX models with DFI. It can be used to display working engine status when connected to ECU.
Launch Control Mode
Similar to Monster Energy® Kawasaki factory racers, riders can use this device to activate a different engine map with the push of a button that helps them get hole shots during live engine starts. To help riders maximize traction and improve their chances of getting a solid start, the Launch Control mode map inhibits ignition timing, allowing the tire to gain grip in low-traction conditions.
The most critical moment to overtake rivals and improve placement in the first corner is in the first few seconds after engaging the clutch. This is when Launch Control mode has the most impact. In neutral, first, or second gear, press and hold the launch control button (on the left handlebar) for at least two seconds to start the engine.
When the system is engaged, an indicator lamp adjacent to the button flashes immediately, alerting the rider. This technology automatically disengages when the transmission is shifted into third gear, returning to the engine’s normal map. In the event of a malfunction in the DFI system, the launch control mode indicator light also serves as a warning light.
Lightweight Aluminum Perimeter Frame (KP)
A chassis based on the KX450 motocross racer helps define the 2023 Kawasaki KX250X’s slim ergonomics, lightweight, and nimble handling. The engine is a stress member that helps maintain the frame’s stiffness balance.
For a smoother ride, the frame’s primary spurs are thinner. The downtube combines a cast aluminum rear section and a forged front section for an exceptional front-end feel. The aluminum frame is made of cast, extruded, and forged components. Its design balances longitudinal and torsional stiffness for stability and fast handling.
The design emphasizes maximum traction during acceleration. Specific chassis components and layouts (reinforcing ribs, swingarm pivots, output shafts, linkage mounts, and rear axle) are used to reduce chassis squat and increase traction.
Kayaba Coil-Spring Fork
Smooth movement is provided by this high-performance 48mm inverted coil spring fork throughout the fork stroke. Larger 25mm damping pistons can be used with larger diameter inner tubes to create a more vital damping force at lower internal pressures. It enables a more comfortable ride and more robust damping performance.
To help prevent wear friction and maintain smooth sliding surfaces over time, the Kashima Coat hardens and reduces friction inside the fork’s outer tubes. Better ride feel and smoother suspension action, especially early in the stroke, are facilitated by the lubricating component in the coating.
New Uni-Trak® Rear Suspension
To provide more rear suspension travel while keeping the seat height low, the new Uni-Trak® rear suspension is mounted under the swingarm of 2023 Kawasaki KX250X. Improved suspension action is provided by additional travel in various track conditions. Thanks to the dual compression adjustment, changing the damping independently at high and low speeds is possible.
Kashima Coat, a friction-reducing material, is inside the shock reservoir for improved suspension action. The shock-bottoming bumper cushion reduces bottoming motion and gives the rider better control.
270mm braking brand front brake disc offers exceptional stopping power. Decisive stopping power and excellent braking control are provided by the KX450 motocross racer’s front master cylinder paired with X-specific front brake pads. A sizeable front disc matched to a 240 mm rear disc provided controllability and stopping power in equal measure.
The size of the rear disc improves ride feel and feedback, which is beneficial in long off-road events where stamina is tested. Long, smooth surfaces and a level tank seat line are aspects of the bodywork that aid rider movement and control. Narrow shrouds are placed close to the frame. Single-piece shrouds improve the rider’s leg grip because they are thinner when they meet the rider’s legs.
