The 2021 Kawasaki KLX230 Dirt Bike is designed to take dual-purpose motorcyclists to a place they have never been. This street-legal, dual-purpose motorbike was inspired by the KX Line and Kawasaki’s racing pedigree to allow riders to travel out of town and enjoy the trails confidently. The 233cc fuel-injected air-cooled engine is mated to an easy-to-use smooth-shifting six-speed transmission and manual clutch, as well as a compact steel perimeter frame, all designed with trail riding in mind. The off-road capability of the KLX230 motorcycle has been enhanced with complete-size wheels, long-ride suspension, and ample ground clearance.

Engine
Long-stroke engines have low torque for easy low-speed management in common to mid-range and a strong pull when the slight throttle opens.
Air-cooled only and SOHC architecture simplifies maintenance.
DFI helps offer smooth, accurate throttle response for better tail engine control. Fuel injection automatically adjusts for changes in air temperature and altitude to ensure a steady fuel flow, resulting in lower emissions.
DFI ensures a steady start whether the engine is hot or cold, and the engine is easy to start when paired with the electric starter button.
Chassis
The brand new high tensile steel frame was designed with trail performance and rider confidence in mind.
The frame and engine were built together. Engine height was decreased to help create a suitable frame line for maximum hardness balance and center of gravity.
The frame was also designed so riders could easily hold it with their legs for ultimate control and input. An all-new flat seat design, paired with a flush seam between the shroud, seat and side cover, improves ride control and provides freedom of movement.
The short wheelbase helps in the overall movement of the trail.
Long-distance suspension enhances trail ride performance by offering adequate ground clearance.
The rear suspension system of the new Uni-Trak (KP) provides a smooth ride on small pieces while strong enough to handle large ones.
The preload can be adjusted on the gas pressure single rear shock to help riders adjust the motorcycle according to weight.
Petal disc brakes provide reliable braking.
