Austrian manufacturer KTM has just created the surprise in Tokyo Motor Show by presenting an electric scooter. Baptized E-Speed, this “vehicle of urban mobility” again takes the same technical solutions as Free ride E: an electrical motor of 11 kw and 36 Nm.
Able to quickly reach at 85 km/h, this scooter is the symbol of the implication of KTM and its owner Stephan Pierer in the vehicles “zero emission”: “At KTM we are already convinced of the potential of the electrical motor in complement of what already exists.”

“Quickly, this kind of motorization will have our preference for short displacements in the places sensitive to pollution, like nature or the big cities… The E-Speed can allow the two-wheeled vehicle motorized to be again better accepted in the company, not only because it brings a certain environmental credit, but also because it is fun and easy to lead…”

Among the adopted technical solutions, in addition to an electrical motor of 11 kw and 36 Nm identical to Free ride E still in test, it chose a final transmission by belt assembled on one will monograms seriously dimensioned.

Drawn by Gerald Kieska, the KTM E-Speed adopts a faithful look to aesthetic KTM codes. The same applies to the elements of the frame: tubular lattice, shock absorbers GT… Note also the front suspension, ensured by an obviously complex system of will monograms, which points out that used by confidential Gilera 125 CX, produced of 1991 to 1993.

Drawn by Gerald Kieska, who is not with his first scooters since in particular its company of design had drawn in the scheming scooters “Generic”, the KTM E-Speed is nevertheless the very first scooter made by KTM: it thus again takes the codes of the brand, namely a framework out of tubular lattice, suspensions GT and an ultra worked look.
Dreamed of child?
What to feed dreamed of the schoolboys at the exit of the classes, while waiting for a final version: for recall, Free ride E which was presented 2 years ago is always in phase of test. The KTM 125 Duke with thermal engine goes on the other hand one crowned paperboard in concession, proof that the brand can innovate and to infiltrate on markets hitherto unknown of it, and to create the crowned surprised ones!
