Honda 2024 Rebel 500 SE Cruisers – Features and Specs
Ride free. Ride bold.
The Honda 2024 Rebel 500 SE Cruisers blends classic cruiser aesthetics with modern engineering. Features such as full-LED lighting, a slipper/assist clutch, and optional anti-lock braking enhance its functionality, while updated colour options for 2024 add further individuality to the mid-sized cruiser.
For younger riders, particularly those seeking a machine that reflects personal identity as much as transportation needs, motorcycles serve as lifestyle statements. The CMX500 Rebel was developed with this mindset, combining tradition with contemporary thinking to create a platform that accommodates personalisation while remaining practical for everyday use.

Introduced for the 2017 season, the CMX500 Rebel quickly gained popularity and became the best-selling European model in the custom category in 2021 and 2022. The Rebel family expanded further in 2021 with the addition of the CMX1100, which introduced increased performance and advanced technology while maintaining the core character that defines the CMX500.
For 2024, the CMX500 Rebel remains mechanically unchanged but introduces two new standard paint options along with a stealth-themed finish for the SE edition.

Developed initially in North America to appeal to a younger audience, the Rebel is powered by a 471cc parallel twin-cylinder engine designed to deliver strong torque at low rpm and smooth, linear performance throughout the rev range. It is A2 licence-compliant and benefits from a slim design and a low seat height, making it easy to manage at low speeds. The riding position is neutral and relaxed, with mid-mounted footpegs and slightly extended handlebar reach.
The tubular steel frame complements the stripped-back, fat-tyred bobber styling, finished predominantly in black with minimal paintwork. The design allows quick conversion between solo and pillion configurations using a simple bolt-on system.
Styling & Equipment
During development, the Honda 2024 Rebel 500 SE Cruisers focused on two guiding principles: simplicity and raw character. The result is a minimalist design in which every detail plays a functional role.
The low and lean silhouette, highlighted by the steeply raked 11.2-litre fuel tank and wide handlebars, positions the rider firmly within the motorcycle. Extensive blacked-out finishes emphasise the bike’s streamlined appearance and subtle paint accents.
All lighting is LED, including the distinctive round headlight with a compact 175mm lens housed in a die-cast aluminium mount. A slim oval tail light and licence plate illumination complement the low-profile design, while compact 55mm LED indicators incorporate front position lights.
Instrumentation is handled by a compact 100mm speedometer featuring a negative LCD display with white backlighting. It includes a gear position indicator and fuel consumption display. The ignition switch is positioned beneath the left side of the fuel tank.

The pillion pad and rear footpegs can be easily removed, and available accessories include a rear rack, backrest, tank pads, flyscreen and saddlebag options in both nylon and leather finishes.
The SE edition, finished in Pearl Shining Black for 2024, adds factory-installed features such as a headlight cowl with smoke screen, retro fork covers with gaiters, a brown diamond-stitched seat and bronze wheels.
Engine
The Honda 2024 Rebel 500 SE Cruisers 471cc liquid-cooled, eight-valve parallel-twin engine is derived from the CBR500R but tuned specifically for cruiser use. Revised PGM-FI fuel injection mapping and adjusted valve timing shift its character toward stronger low-end torque and smooth, consistent delivery.
The engine produces a peak torque of 43.3 Nm at 6,000rpm and a maximum power of 34kW at 8,500rpm. With a bore and stroke of 67mm by 66.8mm and a compression ratio of 10.7:1, it balances compact dimensions with flexible performance.
Roller rocker arms in the cylinder head reduce friction, while shim-type valve adjustment contributes to lighter operation. The cam chain uses vanadium-treated pins to minimise friction and enhance durability.
Additional refinements, including piston skirt striations for improved lubrication and specialised surface treatments, further reduce internal resistance. A 180-degree crankshaft configuration and centrally located primary balancer help manage vibration and maintain smooth operation.

The six-speed gearbox is designed for effortless shifts, supported by an assist/slipper clutch that reduces lever effort and improves stability during rapid downshifts.
A 2-1 exhaust system enhances torque delivery and produces a deep, pulsing exhaust note while meeting EURO5 compliance standards.
Chassis
The tubular steel frame secures the engine at three mounting points and is shaped to remain narrow around the rider’s legs. Suspension settings are tuned to provide compliant damping and a smooth ride.
With a rake of 28 degrees, a trail of 110mm and a wheelbase of 1,490mm, the chassis achieves stable yet manageable handling. The low seat height of 690mm enhances accessibility, while mid-mounted footpegs promote a natural riding posture.

A bolt-on cast aluminium subframe offers potential for customisation. Up front, widely spaced 41mm fork stanchions contribute to rigidity and comfort, while the rear tubular steel swingarm works with twin nitrogen-charged shocks offering five-step preload adjustment.
Standard tyres are Dunlop units sized 130/90-16 at the front section and 150/80-16 at the rear, mounted on 16-inch cast aluminium wheels. Braking is handled by a 296 mm of front disc with twin-piston calliper and a single-piston rear setup.
