2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE Adventure Bike – Features and Specs

RVE version is available in “Graffiti” livery and Ducati Red

The “Graffiti” livery was crafted using water-based decals, with the primary objective of achieving a refined and complex graphic inspired by an attractive street art works. The standard version is distinguished by its mass-coloured Ducati Red plastics, typical of the supermoto world.

Design

The aesthetics of the 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE Adventure Bike have been defined by explicitly recalling the aesthetic canons of supermotard racing, such as essentiality, compactness, and aggressiveness, while inserting them into a typically Ducati design: complex yet linear, elegant, and refined in its minimalism. The outcome is a tall, slim, lightweight adventure motorcycle, with superstructures that extend slightly downwards to reveal the engine, enhancing the message of nimbleness and reinforced by the lightness, also visually, of the five-spoke alloy wheels having a “Y” design.

The brand-new and powerful Superquadro Mono engine, characterized by marked vertical development, becomes a unique element of a minimalist design born from the pursuit of greater effectiveness and enjoyment in riding. The high saddle features a specialist, almost extreme profile, designed primarily to support both body riding and riding with the leg projected towards the inside of the curve, providing outstanding slenderness and a less sinuous shape in the apical view. The flyline is defined by the visual connection line between the saddle itself and the shoulder of the tank, which continues and closes on the front mudguard to push the motorcycle forward, and it emphasizes its dynamism to communicate the fun-motorcycl personality of the 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE Adventure Bike from the very first moment.

The new slender tail, the high and extended mudguard, the sides that hold the exhaust and become attractive number plates, the tank itself left moderately exposed, are essential and almost basic elements in their simplicity, but with attention to couplings and finishes while preserving simplicity and the lightness typical of a racing world like that of supermotard.

The design of the 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE Adventure Bike remains, in fact, unmistakably linked to typical Ducati concepts and the Hypermotard family. Perfect examples of it can be found in the very compact headlight mask with LED projector and “double C” DRL, which dominates the front view and offers the model a technological and distinctive appearance, but also in the tank sides and in the exhaust with double silencer under the tail in which the attractive rear light is integrated, which recalls the “double C” motif of the DRL light. Both the front and rear direction indicators are LED.

Engine

The Superquadro Mono powers the all-new 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE Adventure Bike, the latest creation among Ducati engines, designed to set the performance benchmark among road single-cylinder engines.

Light and compact, the Superquadro Mono was developed based on the maximum evolution of the Ducati road-twin cylinder, the 1285cc Superquadro found in the Ducati Panigale 1299. In fact, the bore value of 116mm is identical, which, along with a stroke of 62.4mm, yields a displacement of 659cc for the Superquadro Mono. A significant part of the thermal design, i.e., an attractive shape of the combustion chamber, the piston, and the desmodromic distribution control, is the same as that of the powerful twin-cylinder.

Thanks to these solutions, the Superquadro Mono can easily delivers a peak power of 77.5hp at 9,750rpm. It is capable of reaching 10,250rpm in ratios from second to sixth, values never reached before with a road single-cylinder. In first gear only, the limiter is set at 10,000rpm. The torque, with a peak value of 6.4 kg· m ·m at 8,000rpm, is distributed in a particularly favourable manner, thus resulting in linear and consumable delivery from a performance perspective.

Fuel feed is entrusted to a solo oval-section throttle body with a diameter of 62mm, which includes an under-throttle injector controlled by a ride-by-wire system.

The new die-cast engine crankcases integrate the water jacket around the cylinder barrel, made of aluminium, as on the 1299 Superleggera, rather than steel, with benefits in terms of cooling due to the thinness of the walls.

In the 35kW version, reserved for A2 licence holders, the Superquadro Mono delivers 43.5hp at 6,250rpm and 5 kg·m at 5,750rpm of peak torque.

Chassis

The 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE Adventure Bike prioritizes compactness and lightness, with a running weight of 151 kg, which is distributed 48.5% to the front axle and 51.5% to the rear axle. A result achieved through high-level technical solutions and components, including the new trellis frame, the functional and minimalist double-sided swingarm, a lithium-ion battery, cast alloy wheels, brake discs with aluminium flanges, and the new Marzocchi fork with tubes made from the same material.

Furthermore, the ergonomics have been studied with the sole objective of offering the rider total control over the motorcycle and greater reactivity. The handlebar, 807mm wide, is an aluminium element featuring a variable section, secured by U-bolts fixed to the upper steering plate, and boasts an essential, specialist appearance underscored by the black anodization. The U-bolts are designed to be mounted in two different positions, varying the advancement of the handlebars by 8mm. U-bolts and the steering head are made of forged materials.

The design of the footpegs is optimised to maximise lean angle and offer greater grip with racing boots by removing the rubber covering, thanks to a specific edge processing.

Frame

The frame is a trellis made of steel tubes, featuring differentiated sections and thicknesses to optimize stiffness and weight (7.2kg) and ensure the robustness necessary to withstand the stresses of typical supermotard riding, including frequent landings from wheelies. The new powder-coated frame also acts as an upper attachment for the monoshock. The rear subframe is removable and is also a trellis made of steel tubes with a uniform cylindrical section, featuring walls 1.6mm thick.

The double-sided swingarm, 572mm long, is made from a single piece of cast aluminium, minimal and specialist, featuring a straight course that combines lightness (3.9kg) with stiffness. The finish is natural, with mechanical processing applied to the visible areas. The brand-new shock absorber operates by interposing progressive, off-road-inspired linkages, which allow the suspension travel to be utilised more effectively by limiting bottoming out.

The characteristic measurements feature a steering tube inclined by 26.3 degrees with steering plates having an offset of 34mm, resulting in a trail of 109mm and a wheelbase of 1,447mm. The result is an adventure motorcycle whose handling is characterized by the load transfers during braking and acceleration typical of supermotard, combined with the accuracy and communication present in the DNA of Ducati sports models, thus defining a very high riding quality on the circuit.

Suspensions

The suspensions of the 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE Adventure Bike have been specifically designed for a broad range of uses. The standard calibration has been defined to ensure excellent behaviour on asphalt, providing both ultimate comfort and adequate support during dynamic riding. By engaging the hydraulics of the fork and shock absorber, it is possible to obtain the correct support for sportier riding and use on the circuit.

The front suspension consists of a 45mm Marzocchi aluminium upside-down fork, fully adjustable and with 215mm of travel. Preload adjustment occurs on both forks, while hydraulic braking has separate functions, with extension on the right tube and compression on the left. The help of remote adjusters on the fork head speeds up calibration. The decision to use aluminium sliders helps maintain the weight of the fork at just 8.1kg.

The rear monoshock features a Sachs of off-road inspiration, also fully adjustable, with hydraulic settings that can be quickly modified thanks to remote adjusters.

The bike’s use and maintenance manual shows the recommended calibrations for comfort-oriented road use, sporty road riding, track use and use with a passenger on the road.

Tyres and rims

To reduce unsprung masses, which are also subject to the gyroscopic effect, the 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE Adventure Bike features lightweight five-spoke cast wheels with an attractive “Y” design, the most effective in terms of weight containment. This solution, in fact, enables a total weight reduction of approximately 500grams compared to a similar pair of spoked rims, and combined with the adoption of the new aluminium disc flange (-17% weight compared to a similar steel element), offers the wheel particularly low inertia at the front which gives the front end that high precision typical of Ducati sports models.

The tyres are Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV in sizes 120/70 ZR 17 at the front and 160/60 at the rear, which enhance the dynamic qualities of the 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE Adventure Bike.

Brakes

The front braking system relies on a single 330mm disc, the same diameter used on the Ducati Panigale V4, the current standard for supersport bikes, designed explicitly by Brembo for the 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE Adventure Bike. An M4.32 four-piston radial calliper works on the disc, managed by a Brembo 15/19 pump, also radial.

At the rear, the system has a single 240mm disc, also with a specific design, worked by a floating calliper.

Electronics

The 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE Adventure Bike is equipped with an electronic package unmatched in the segment for completeness and sophistication. Ducati specialists have developed unprecedented strategies and calibrations for DWC, ABS, and EBC, specifically designed to enhance riding pleasure and support expert riders in typical supermotard riding, enabling them to maximize performance on the track.

At the same time, the electronic suite of the 2024 Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE Adventure Bike is a precious training tool that allows less experienced riders to acquire familiarity and ability in motard techniques in total safety.

Dashboard

The dashboard, with an LED display, is designed to offer greater lightness and compactness (133 mm x 56 mm) with a horizontal form factor, objectives that cannot be achieved using a standard TFT panel. The result is instrumentation perfectly integrated into the number plate, resulting in a slim and minimalist front view, typical of racing supermotards.

The 3.8-inch LCD, designed explicitly for Ducati, is based on IBN (Improved Black Nematic) technology, which features white characters on a black background to ensure maximum visibility in all conditions, as well as an anti-scratch surface treatment. As with the Ducati Panigale V4, a green LED on the external frame indicates the ideal moment for shifting gears, while a red one indicates the intervention of the limiter.
