The 2024 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Bike continues to place a strong emphasis on core off-road capability, maintaining the slim proportions and purposeful stance of a true rally-inspired machine. For 2024, the 1,084cc parallel-twin engine has been revised through intake, combustion and exhaust updates to deliver stronger low- and mid-range performance. Peak torque increases by seven per cent to 112Nm, while maximum power remains unchanged at 75kW.
The 2024 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Bike retains its rugged steel frame, CRF450R-derived aluminium swingarm, established chassis geometry, long suspension travel and generous ground clearance. One of the most significant updates for 2024 is the adoption of tubeless tyres in place of traditional tubes, enabling easier puncture repairs without removing the wheels.

Long-distance comfort has also been improved with the introduction of a new, larger five-position adjustable windscreen, mounted to a revised and more aggressively styled front fairing. Depending on rider preference, the screen can be set to maximise forward visibility or enhance wind protection during extended road journeys.
The introduction of the longer-stroke 1,084cc engine in 2020 marked a major milestone in the Africa Twin’s evolution. At the same time, the 2024 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Bike received a comprehensive redesign that sharpened its rally styling and strengthened its off-road focus. Alongside increased engine output, the motorcycle was made significantly lighter, remaining faithful to the original Africa Twin philosophy established decades ago.
2024 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Bike – Features and Specs
Chassis
The 2024 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Bike is equipped with a fully adjustable Showa suspension package that delivers high performance on and off the road. At the front, 45mm cartridge-type inverted forks provide long-travel bump absorption with carefully tuned internal damping. A cast aluminium upper yoke and forged lower yoke, connected by a hollow aluminium steering stem, clamp the fork legs securely with twin bolts at both ends. At the rear, a Showa shock absorber with a 46mm cylinder and remote reservoir ensures consistent damping control, even under extreme off-road conditions, while spring preload is easily adjusted via a dial on the shock body.

The steel semi-double cradle frame is engineered to balance strength and flexibility, prioritising off-road ability while maintaining confident on-road manners. Rigidity around the steering head is optimised to enhance front-end feel, while the slim, straight main spars eliminate the need for a front cross pipe. Ground clearance measures 250mm, wheelbase is 1,575mm, and rake and trail are set at 27.5 degrees and 113mm, respectively. Wet weight is quoted at 231kg.

A bolt-on aluminium subframe keeps the Africa Twin narrow beneath the rider, measuring just 195mm at its narrowest point, which is crucial for ground reach and manoeuvrability. The lightweight aluminium swingarm, inspired by the CRF450R, improves rear-wheel traction and rider feedback. High-strength steel inner pivot plates and an upper cross tube that doubles as the rear shock mount further enhance traction feel and suspension performance.
At the centre of the chassis lies a Bosch MM7.10 six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that continuously monitors roll, pitch, and yaw. This data supports traction control, cornering ABS, wheelie control and rear lift control, while also contributing to the operation of the electronically controlled suspension system. The IMU manages braking pressure during lean and deceleration and intervenes smoothly if rear-wheel lift is detected. An off-road ABS mode is available, and the rear ABS can be fully disabled when stationary for dedicated off-road use.
Braking is handled by compact radial-mounted four-piston callipers operating dual 310mm floating front discs, while the rear uses a 256mm disc designed for precise rear-wheel control. The 21-inch front and 18-inch rear stainless-steel spoked wheels are now tubeless and fitted with approved Metzeler Karoo Street tyres, with Michelin Anakee Wild block-pattern tyres also homologated for riders seeking more aggressive off-road traction.
Engine
The 1,084cc eight-valve parallel-twin engine produces 75kW at 7,500rpm, with peak torque rising to 112Nm at 5,500rpm, up from 105Nm in the previous configuration. Bore remains at 92mm with an increased stroke of 81.5mm, while compression ratio rises to 10.5:1. These changes deliver noticeable gains in torque and throttle response at low and mid-range engine speeds, improving rideability across a wide range of conditions.

Engine & Chassis Management Electronics
Throttle-by-wire control works in conjunction with the six-axis IMU to form the foundation of the 2024 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Bike’s electronic package, which has been refined for 2024 to deliver smoother and more intuitive responses. Riders can select from four power levels and three engine braking settings. Honda Selectable Torque Control offers seven levels of intervention, all optimised using real-time IMU data to provide finer control of rear-wheel slip, particularly during off-road riding. The system can also be fully disabled.
Wheelie Control is similarly adjustable, offering three levels of intervention. Lower settings allow controlled front-wheel lift, while higher levels prevent lift entirely. The system can be switched off if desired.
Four default riding modes—TOUR, URBAN, GRAVEL and OFF-ROAD—cover a wide range of riding scenarios, while two fully customisable USER modes allow riders to tailor settings to personal preference. Even within the preset modes, individual parameters such as traction control and wheelie control can be adjusted.
Styling & Equipment
Aggressive, compact styling defines the 2024 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Bike, with taut, rally-inspired bodywork designed to enhance off-road functionality. The front fairing and rear seat unit have been sharpened visually for 2024, while the addition of a five-stage adjustable windscreen enhances comfort during commuting and long-distance travel.
Seat height remains adjustable between 850mm and 870mm, and the high-mounted handlebars create an upright riding position with excellent visibility and control, whether seated or standing. The slim tail section and carefully contoured seat allow easy ground reach and smooth rider movement, while a standard aluminium rear carrier provides practical luggage capability.

The 18.8-litre fuel tank delivers a potential riding range of more than 380km, supported by efficient fuel consumption figures of 4.9L/100km. Dual LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights provide strong illumination and automatically adapt to ambient light conditions, enhancing safety. Knuckle guards are fitted as standard.
A 6.5-inch full-colour TFT Multi Information Display allows intuitive control of all onboard systems, with riding modes selectable directly from the screen. The display remains easy to operate even while wearing gloves and can be customised to show relevant information depending on the selected riding mode.
