The Rebel family’s journey began with the introduction of the 500cc CMX500 Rebel in 2017, which blended classic styling with modern thinking to appeal to riders who view motorcycles as an extension of lifestyle and identity. Its mix of timeless bobber design and contemporary styling helped it achieve strong popularity, becoming Europe’s best-selling custom-style motorcycle in both 2021 and 2022.

At the heart of the bike is the 1,084cc parallel twin engine derived from the CRF1100L Africa Twin. It has been retuned for stronger low- and mid-range response, delivering a more pronounced exhaust character. Throttle By Wire brings advanced rider aids, including three preset riding modes that adjust power delivery, engine braking, Honda Selectable Torque Control with Wheelie Control, and shift behaviour for models equipped with the optional Dual Clutch Transmission. Cruise control is included as standard.

Styling remains intentionally minimal, reinforcing its bobber identity. Steel mudguards frame wide tyres, while a round LED headlight complements the negative LCD instrument display. A USB-C charging port is provided beneath the seat for modern convenience.

Front and rear mudguards are constructed from 1mm-thick steel and mounted with die-cast aluminium brackets. The 175mm headlight combines classic styling with modern LED technology, while compact 55mm indicators maintain a traditional appearance. A contemporary touch is provided by the oval LED taillight.

The seat offers a balance of support and comfort and can be configured for solo or two-up riding through a removable rear pad. Beneath the seat is a 3-litre storage compartment with a USB Type-C charging point.

A 120mm negative LCD instrument display provides clear information, while the ignition is positioned on the left side of the frame and also controls seat access. The handlebars are secured with substantial one-inch clamps and house controls for riding modes and optional DCT operation.

Engine

The engine’s compact design, achieved through the Unicam valvetrain and semi-dry sump layout, contributes to a low centre of gravity. Wheelbase is 1,520mm, with a 30-degree fork angle and 110mm trail to balance cruiser styling with stable handling. Wet weight is 223 kg for the manual version and 233 kg for the DCT variant, while the Touring model weighs 238 kg with manual transmission and 248 kg with DCT.

Seat height remains at 700mm, and the riding position is defined by mid-mounted footpegs and wide handlebars. The geometry allows lean angles of up to 35 degrees on either side.

The front suspension consists of cartridge-style forks with 43mm stanchions finished in titanium oxide coating. Twin rear shocks feature a 12.5mm rod and pressurised piggyback reservoirs, with both ends offering adjustable spring preload.
