BMW has also prioritized comfort and convenience. A smartphone charging compartment with an integrated cooling fan keeps devices powered safely. A premium LED headlight system features adaptive cornering lights that automatically adjust on twisting roads for improved nighttime visibility. Four configurable shortcut buttons are neatly placed on the left side of the fairing to provide quick access to preferred features. Heated grips, heated seating, and standard complex cases make long-distance travel effortless.
The standard equipment includes a 10.25-inch color TFT display with connectivity and navigation, a USB-C mobile phone charging storage compartment, full LED headlights with adaptive cornering lights, four programmable favorite button clusters on the left fairing, dynamic traction control, three ride modes labeled Rain, Road, and Dynamic, engine brake control, hill start control, tire pressure monitoring, reverse assist, heated grips, heated seats, complex side cases, keyless ride capability, an intelligent emergency call system, and complimentary BMW Motorrad Ultimate Care break-in service.
Luxury and Comfort Appeal
Although the standard list of features is already extensive, BMW provides additional options to elevate the touring experience even further. The Comfort Package includes Keyless Ride, a central locking system, an upgraded Shift Assist mechanism, and an anti-theft alarm. The Touring Package offers a premium audio system, LED auxiliary lamps, and an engine protection guard. The audio system delivers crystal-clear sound, improves radio reception, and provides Bluetooth output for intercom devices, while the volume automatically adjusts with riding speed.
Standard Electronic Suspension
The K 1600 GT is built around a bridge-type cast aluminum frame that uses the engine as a stressed structural member, combined with a bolt-on sub-frame and a single-sided swingarm. Its suspension design incorporates BMW’s Duolever front and Paralever rear systems, with standard electronic adjustability. A central front spring strut offers 4.5 inches of travel, while the rear strut provides 5.3 inches to manage luggage and passenger weight better. Braking performance comes from dual 320 mm front discs and a single 320mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. Lightweight 17-inch cast aluminum wheels are paired with 120-section front and 190-section rear tires, allowing a wide range of sport or touring rubber.

Serene Six-Cylinder Engine
Motorcycle manufacturers often avoid inline-six engines because of their size. Still, BMW has designed a compact unit that is just 2.6 inches wider than the 2011 BMW K 1300 four-cylinder engine. This 1,649 cc straight-six delivers perfect primary and secondary balance for a smooth ride. To optimize weight distribution, BMW has tilted the engine forward by 55 degrees, which lowers the center of gravity and reduces seat height. This engine produces 160 horsepower and more than 130 pound-feet of torque, with peak torque available at 5,250 rpm. Power is delivered to the new rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox and a new shaft drive. BMW also offers a two-way quickshifter as an optional upgrade.
