The 250 cc 2-strokes have led the way in pure unadulterated performance for decades. They bring the sweet-smelling 2-stroke smoke, top-end powerbands, and ‘Braaaap!’. The 2024 KTM 250 SX takes that to an all-new, gnarlier level. With cutting-edge developments across the board, this 2-stroke legend has risen to a whole new level, and then some.
The 2024 KTM SX range is designed for racers who want the best possible power-to-weight ratio with low maintenance, thanks to fuel injection, switchable engine maps, electric start, and best–in–class power–to–weight ratios.
2024 KTM 250 SX Dirt Bike – Features and Specs
Easy Suspension Adjustment
Get dialled in! The 2024 KTM SX range offers a fully tool-free suspension setup at both ends. Thanks to the shock absorber design with hand-adjustable dual compression control, riders can adjust high- and low-speed settings in seconds. The front end is also easy to adjust with a single air-pressure preload valve and easy-access click adjusters for compression and rebound. We’ll even include the air pump for free!

Electronic Fuel Injection
For the 2-stroke KTM SX range, pre-mix receives a remix in the form of electronic fuel injection. You no longer need to set up the jets in a fiddly pre-race manner, and with the Keihin EFI and reed valve case design, you can lay down optimal power at any altitude, all the time.
Electric Start
Imagine you’re 7 laps into the big ol’ fast time trial. You lose your line and fall into a hole. However, you don’t worry about it. You press the start button, and you’re off once again to take the final flag. This is how the KTM 250 SX will look in 2024. Thanks to a 12.8V 2 Ah lithium-ion battery placed under the rider’s seat, a high-quality stator & pickup, and a super-robust design, the only thing you’ll be kicking is ass.
EFI + Power Valve
Great rideability is the by-product of EFI. The electronic fuel injection is complemented by a Power Valve, installed on the KTM 250 SX so that you can use more power over a broader rev range. Power is smoother, traction is improved. Hole shots, hole shots, hole shots!

Performance
The KTM 250 SX has always been the epitome of unsurpassed power and lightweight design. The 2-stroke engine’s simplicity and low-maintenance operation have made it a motocross rider’s favourite for decades. The KTM 250 SX engine sets the standard in the competitive 250 cc class and will hit the track in 2024 with 53 hp and a total engine weight of just 23.9 kg.

Selectable Maps
The 2024 KTM 250 SX now includes a map-select switch, letting riders choose from 2 engine maps. Map 1 offers linear, predictable power delivery, while Map 2 delivers the full beans, with crisp, explosive power better than 2023 KTM 250 SX.
Absolute Control
Whether it’s a tricky or rocky road, the frame design delivers longitudinal rigidity and moves rotating mass closer to the ecentre of gravity, keeping you in complete control. The shock mounting improves the anti-squat effect for better traction out of corners, and the new footpeg mounting position has been shifted inward to reduce the risk of hooking up in deep ruts or when scrubbing jumps.
Ergonomics
The 2024 KTM SX and SX-F range features a rider triangle that improves knee contact, especially when standing on the pegs, with improved grip surfaces all around. Plastics help release mud build-up in wet, muddy conditions, and a flatter seat profile and high-grip seat cover ensure great rider movement and control. The polyamide-reinforced aluminium subframe further improves rider feel and feedback.
Mass Centralization
The 2024 KTM 250 SX’s engine highlights a focus on mass centralisation, which should optimise engine and chassis operation. This translates to a lighter, nimbler, and simply dominating riding experience.

Traction
Dreaded to tear your arms out of your sockets? The chassis’s anti-squat behaviour is greatly enhanced by altering the backbone of the steel-frame concept, along with the advantages of mass centralisation and overall weight reduction. For the average rider, the 2024 KTM 250 SX delivers just the right amount of power when it’s time to pull out of corners.
Stability
A newly positioned, forged steering head connection, along with CNC-milled triple clamps, ensures the 2024 KTM 250 SX is rock solid at any speed. Made from high-quality aluminium and tuned to deliver maximum steering-stem stiffness, a perfectly aligned fork tube, and precise fork-clamp geometry, these components deliver highly responsive, smooth fork action and consistent stability when ruts and podiums are facing.
Energy absorption
In addition to being hydro-formed, laser-cut, and robot-welded by the manufacturer, the frame is engineered to deliver superior rider response and straight-line stability with precisely determined longitudinal and torsional flex parameters. This means the frame acts as a “shock absorber” of sorts, making for a less harsh ride and reducing rider fatigue over many hard laps.
Ground clearance
No one wants an awful hookup. Luckily, the 2024 KTM 250 SX’s frame and shock-absorber geometry improve linkage ground clearance, with topology-optimised die-cast footpegs less likely to hook in deep ruts and take off when scrubbing.
Consistency
With low-friction SKF linkage seals and advanced damping, a WP XACT shock absorber delivers unsurpassed traction and energy absorption lap after lap.
