After a six-year absence from Honda’s European lineup, the 2024 Honda CBR600RR ABS Sports Motorcycle returns for the 2024 model year to strengthen the middleweight supersport category. It features MotoGP-inspired electronics and aerodynamic enhancements, along with a significantly updated engine that produces 89 kW at 14,250 rpm and 63 Nm at 11,500 rpm.

Engine

To achieve this performance at high engine speeds, key components such as the camshafts, valve springs, and crankshaft have been upgraded for improved durability and reduced inertia. The engine comes with a bore and stroke of 67 mm and 42.5 mm, with a compression ratio of 12.2:1.

The intake, combustion, and exhaust systems have been extensively refined. A 44 mm throttle body ensures sufficient airflow at high rpm, while the intake ports and throttle valve areas are shaped to reduce pressure loss and improve airflow efficiency. The inlet ports have been redesigned to increase flow capacity, enhancing engine performance.

Throttle-by-wire technology ensures smooth, precise throttle response, particularly at partial throttle openings. Valve timing has been revised to improve intake efficiency and exhaust flow, thereby improving overall engine performance.

The exhaust system features a 4-2-1 configuration with large-diameter piping to improve high-rpm gas flow. The catalytic converter has been enlarged to meet EURO5 standards while maintaining performance.

Engine Electronics

The Throttle-By-Wire system is derived from the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and was originally developed for the RC213V-S. It uses an Acceleration Position Sensor integrated into the throttle grip to communicate with the ECU, ensuring precise and natural throttle control.

A full-colour TFT display offers multiple display modes, including Street, Circuit, and Mechanic. It provides information such as lap times, gear position, and shift indicators.
