Only one new model, or version of a vehicle, was shown by Aprilia at EICMA 2022. However, that particular model is the Italian company’s best-selling sport bike. Based on the RS 660 chassis, the 2023 Aprilia RS660 Extrema Sports Motorcycle variant has a variety of carbon fiber additions that reduce the weight to 366 pounds dry for an appealing power-to-weight ratio given the 100 horsepower provided by the 660’s parallel twin.
A carbon fiber silencer in the street-legal SC-Project exhaust system aids in reducing weight as well. The passenger pegs may be removed thanks to the attachment bracket for the exhaust bracket. The high-quality carbon material is used for the belly pan and front fender.
The electrical package of the RS 660 now has a new quick shifter software that enables the rider to swiftly and simply pick an upside-down shifting pattern a la GP.
2023 Aprilia RS660 Extrema Sports Motorcycle – Features and Specs
The Aprilia 660 project expertly translates sportiness in an innovative and latest way through a range of lightweight and high-performance bikes as well as technical and electronic features typically reserved for models in higher categories to give expert riders an exhilarating ride that is also accessible and enjoyable, even for less experienced riders, deserves credit for the great success achieved by the Aprilia RS 660, sold in 72 countries, and currently the best-selling sport bike in entire Europe.
The sportiest variant of the current RS 660 model lineup is Aprilia’s Extrema. The name is evocative of the Aprilia 125 Extrema, one of the most potent and quick eighth-liter engines ever built, produced between 1992 and 1994.
Thanks to its upgraded and new standard components, the RS 660 Extrema tips the scales at an impressive 166 kg and raises the bar for weight-to-power ratios (at 100 HP, it sets a record in its class), which is, as we all know, essential for having fun on the road and riding well on the track.
This accomplishment is made possible by the unique standard equipment, highlighted by the installation of a new, lighter, and street-legal exhaust system by SC-Project with a carbon silencer on the right side (and no longer beneath the engine). Additionally included is the black anodized aluminum silencer bracket, which makes it possible to eliminate the passenger footpegs and thereby reduce weight even further. The front mudguard and the redesigned belly pan, both made of premium carbon and featuring an entirely new design, also contribute to the total weight reduction.
The single-seat tail fairing, which substitutes the passenger seat to improve the sleek form of the rear section, further emphasizes the athletic aspect of the RS 660 Extrema. The passenger seat’s inclusion maintains the bike’s permission for two-up riding. Along with the adjustable traction control, cornering ABS, engine brake, engine map, and wheelie control that are part of the RS 660’s basic electronics, the RS 660 Extrema also contains software that enables a rapid shift in an upside-down position. It means that the gearbox can be set up independently without changing parts of the bike, making it perfect for track days. The new specialized white and red livery, which is sport-inspired, helps to make it instantly recognized.
