Special features of KX250XC 4-stroke engine
The bottom of the piston has the same bridged-box design as our factory racers. A light, strong piston is obtained from under a bridged-box with a short skirt, strong outer ribs, and fully flush inner braking.
Connecting rod design reduces lateral piston pressure on cylinder walls, minimizes mechanical damage and improves performance.
Simple bearings with low friction on the large end of the connecting rod help to increase the strength by reducing mechanical damage.
A 3mm forward cylinder reduces offset friction and allows more efficient power output, while the engine’s upright position helps to straighten the intake path. Dow draft intake fills the root cylinder more efficiently, increasing power.
The cylinder bore is a plateau to create a smooth surface that helps reduce mechanical damage.
Molybdenum coating on the outer surface of the piston reduces wear and reduces mechanical damage. Stratification helps retain oil and reduces sliding friction.
Semi-dry sump (KP) lubrication system for fast engine response. Aluminum cylinder with chrome composite plating (KP) offers better performance and efficient heat transfer for longer life, higher wear resistance, and excellent lubricating material. To keep extra oil away from the crankshaft and to prevent damage to the power-stealing movement, most of the oil is kept in the transmission.
Engine 4-valve cylinder head (KP) with race tuning
Engineers who won the Kawasaki Multimedia World Superbike Championship built the Finger Follower Valve Train, which allows for a high Rio range for aggressive cam profiles and excellent high RPM performance.
Compared to tapite style operation, the finger-follower valve activation valve reduces the mass of the train (intake 3.5% lighter, exhaust 4.3% lighter) while also reducing friction in the cam lobe. Followers have a DLC (carbon-like a diamond) coating that helps prevent wear. For durability, aggressive camshaft lobes are coated with chromium nitride.
Dual injectors Kawasaki DFI® system
A large 44mm throttle body diameter allows ample airflow and enhances top-end performance.
The intake duct angle is optimized for a direct approach to the intake air, which improves the cylinder filling efficiency and contributes to the efficiency. The downstream injector is located at the bottom of the intake duct for quick throttle response. In contrast, the position and angle of the upstream injector match the design of the airbox to contribute to top-end performance.
Hydraulic Clutch with Cond Disc Spring
Kawasaki’s hydraulic clutch feels more upright and moves lighter. As the clutch heats up during more use, there is less play, resulting in a more permanent feeling. Instead of five coiled springs, the clutch uses single-coated disc springs for lighter clutch activation and a more extensive clutch engagement range, which helps the rider regulate the grip. The clutch lever action becomes much more delicate as the spring disc of the cond disc falls as soon as it enters the lever, which reduces the fatigue of the rider during off-road activities.
Electric Start
Powered by a lightweight, compact lithium-ion battery that helps keep weight to a minimum, it provides quick and easy push-button engine start-up. The exhaust cam’s automatic centrifugal compression release system raises an exhaust valve to make it easier to start. The simple design of the system is lightweight and reliable.
Note: To avoid fatal battery damage, use only a lithium-ion special battery charger.
DFI tuning is easy; DFI settings can be changed by changing the coupler on the right side of the steering stem. Riders can choose from three terrain settings: standard, hard and soft, depending on the situation.
Additional skilled users who want to use the optional Kawasaki KX FI Calibration Kit have a better chance of tuning (hand-held).
